La Escolina is an activity for learning and using Asturian that has been run since the 2013-2014 academic year by the association Reciella (families pol asturianu) for 0- to 6-year-old children.

\nDuring one hour a week and through play, manipulative learning and discovery, the children practise or gain access to the Asturian language in an environment in which they socialise with children of their own age accompanied by specialised teachers and in small groups.<\/p>\n
The initiative was launched during the 2013-2014 academic year in Xixón with a group of 7 children between the ages of 2 and 3 from Asturian-speaking families.<\/p>\n
In the 2014-2015 academic year a group of 2 to 3-year-olds in the town of Candás joined the project.<\/p>\n
In the 2015-2016 academic year 3 classrooms are operating, one in Candás with a group of 3 to 4-year-olds and two in Xixón; one classroom of 4 to 5-year-olds and another of 1 to 2-year-olds.<\/p>\n
For the 2016-2017 academic year, 34 children are already committed through pre-enrolment and three teachers will be involved in the project. In addition, one classroom is being opened in Uviéu, and three new classrooms, one in Candás and two in Xixón, are starting up, making a total of 7 groups.<\/p>\n
3 public schools in Xixón, Candás and Uviéu that are making their classrooms available after school hours are collaborating in this initiative.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
