The "Na llingua de casa" campaign seeks to make the Asturian-Leonese language visible in public spheres where traditionally all the written communication takes place in the official Castilian Spanish language. Hoardings located in particularly prominent places manage to make the existence of the language known to those people who are unaware of it. At the same time, when the language is used in writing in milieus with a certain social prestige, it gets a certain dignity among the majority who are made aware that it exists.<\/p>\n
The following materials have been created for this purpose: posters printed on the front and back to be hung at entrances indicating whether the premises are open or closed; notices indicating women’s or men’s toilets; plaques with the words "emburriare" and "tirare" to indicate whether doors should be pushed or pulled; and an explanatory leaflet providing basic information about the campaign, the Asturian-Leonese language and the El Teixu association.<\/p>\n
The materials also have different versions to cater for the language variant of each of the areas where they are distributed. Likewise, various designs are offered and which in any case convey the message by means of simple symbols that can be understood by anyone who does not speak the language. This prevents the possible lack of comprehension of the content of the poster and encourages the link between the concept and the word for those who are prepared to learn the terms used.<\/p>\n
The material is distributed free of charge and has been distributed across zones where the use of the language survives but where, at the same time, there is little or no activity to revive it.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
