Babigoù Breizh offers a language immersion service in Breton for small children.

\nThe microcrèche offers a care service for children aged between 2 months and 4 years before they start school. The children move in a language immersion environment in which Breton is the language of communication. All the professionals involved are qualified primary school teachers and are also competent in the Breton language. The nursery is recognised by the CAF (Family Support Fund), the ARS (Regional Health Body) and the PMI (Mother and Infant Protection). The safety rules and standards applicable in these crèches are the same as the ones in force throughout all pre-primary education. The fees vary depending on the family income as the crèche is attached to the Single Service Provision of the CAF.

\nThe service is open to everyone, irrespective of the language spoken at home. To guide the families in matters of bilingualism, the team organises fun activities in beginner’s Breton which provide the parents with some hints to start speaking to their children in the language.

\nBefore the first crèche in the Breton language was opened in October 2011, there were only services offering an environment in French with one or, in any case, very few professionals who could speak Breton. The opening of the first crèche offering a service in Breton addresses the need to take a step forward and offer language immersion at an earlier age.
