DESCRIPTION:\n\n\n\nConference topics\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe conference aims at covering all aspects of contact linguistics, geolinguistics, language perception, language planning and revitalization of minority languages. Scholars working on language variation and change in European minority languages and varieties are invited to submit their proposals on the following topic areas:\n\n\nDocumenting / describing minority languages using different sources: texts, grammars, dictionaries, atlases, language corpora, and new technologies;\n\n\nThe safeguarding of minority languages: language planning, learning, and teaching, juridical aspects;\n\n\nMountain linguistics with a particular focus on Alps as a linguistic and cultural area;\n\n\nGeolinguistics and new methodological and conceptual approaches;\n\n\nContact linguistics, sociolinguistic typology, linguistic and cultural landscape;\n\n\nInterdisciplinary approaches (language history, onomastics, ethnography, cartography).\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nConference languages\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPresentations may be held in English, French, German or Italian. Slides and/or handouts should be in English.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbstract submission\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbstracts focusing on, but not limited to, the above-mentioned topics may be submitted to miles@unito.it by February 29th, 2024. Abstracts should not exceed 400 words (excluding references) and may be written in one of the conference languages.\nProceedings\nA selection of the papers presented at the conference will be published in a peer-reviewed volume.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nImportant dates\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSubmission of abstracts: February 29, 2024 (NEW!
