DESCRIPTION:\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n7-8 November 2024, Ljouwert/Leeuwarden (NL)\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe Mercator European Research Centre on Multilingualism and Language Learning, hosted by the Fryske Akademy, invites you to participate in the Mercator International Conference on the theme of Shaping Policy for Minority Languages and Multilingualism.\nThe aim of this conference is to provide a platform for and to stimulate critical discussions on policy development for minority languages and multilingualism in various contexts, from the home to education. We invite presentations that examine language policies, practices, ideologies, and attitudes at all levels (international, national, regional, societal, institutional, group, family, and individual). We welcome proposals for presentations from people of all career stages that engage with the themes of the conference. Postgraduate students and early career researchers are particularly encouraged to participate.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nProgramme 7-8 November 2024\n(subject to change)\nDownload the programme (pdf)\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nRegistration\n\nThe conference fee is €100 for both days or €50 for 1 day, including lunches and drinks, and a conference dinner on 7 November.\n\nIn-person attendance: register by 25 October 2024.\nOnline attendance: register by 1 November 2024. If you register to attend online, livestreaming links will be shared shortly before the conference.\nPresenters must register to attend in person by 1 September 2024.\nUntil 25 October, you can cancel your registration free of charge.\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nKey dates\n\nExtended deadline: 30 May 2024: Submission deadline for abstracts (papers/ posters).\n28 June 2024: Notification about acceptance of abstracts (oral presentations/poster presentations/symposia).\n28 June 2024: Registration begins.\n1 September 2024: Last registration day for presenters to attend in-person.\n25 October 2024:  Last registration day for in-person attendance.
