The conference will be hosted at UiT the Arctic University of Norway in Troms\u00f8 25-28 June 2025.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>*Changes may occur.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span>30 September 2024:\u00a0<\/span><\/strong>Submission portal opening.<\/p>\n<p><strong>06 December 2024<\/strong>: Abstract submission deadline.<\/p>\n<p><strong>20 February 2025<\/strong>: Notification of acceptance.<\/p>\n<p><strong>03 March 2025<\/strong>: Early bird registration starts.<\/p>\n<p><strong>11 April 2025<\/strong>: End of early bird registration.<\/p>\n<p><strong>12 April 2025<\/strong>: Full fee\u00a0registration starts.<\/p>\n<p><strong>23<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>May 2025<\/strong>: End of registration.<\/p>\n<header class=\"banner-header\">\n<div class=\"container\">\n<div id=\"ikb5\" class=\"ikbComponent\">\n<div class=\"row\">\n<div class=\"pl-3\">\n<h1 class=\"mb-4 mt-3\">Call for papers<\/h1>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/header>\n<div class=\"container\">\n<div class=\"col-lg-8 col-12\">\n<div class=\"mb-5\">We are inviting proposals for presentations at EuroSLA 34 to be held in Troms\u00f8, Norway, June 25 \u2013 28 2025.<\/div>\n<div id=\"bildetabell\"><main class=\"mb-5\">We welcome submissions in all areas and<span>\u00a0approaches to the study of<\/span>\u00a0second, foreign or additional languages,\u00a0bilingualism\u00a0and multilingualism.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h5><strong>Academic Program\u00a0<\/strong><\/h5>\n<hr \/>\n<p>The academic program will include presentations by four invited<span>\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/en.uit.no\/tavla\/artikkel\/sub?p_document_id=845263&amp;sub_id=846114\">keynote speakers:<\/a><span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/hip.uic.edu\/profiles\/morgan-short-kara\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Kara Morgan-Short<\/a><span>\u00a0<\/span>(University of Illinois)<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/sls\/people\/theres-gruter\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Theres Gr\u00fcter<\/a><span>\u00a0<\/span>(University of Hawaii)<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.lancaster.ac.uk\/linguistics\/about\/people\/patrick-rebuschat\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Patrick Rebuschat<\/a><span>\u00a0<\/span>(Lancaster University)<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gla.ac.uk\/schools\/mlc\/staff\/bernadetteorourke\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Bernadette O\u2019Rourke<\/a><span>\u00a0<\/span>(University of Glasgow)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Doctoral Workshop and Roundtable.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The conference will also offer a doctoral student workshop and a<span>\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/en.uit.no\/tavla\/artikkel\/sub?p_document_id=845263&amp;sub_id=846267\">round<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/en.uit.no\/tavla\/artikkel\/sub?p_document_id=845263&amp;sub_id=846267\">table<\/a><span>\u00a0<\/span>on the topic &#8220;From language learners to New Speakers and their role in language revitalization&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Types of presentations<\/strong><\/p>\n<table class=\"table\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td>Individual Papers<\/td>\n<td><span>Length of presentation 20 min followed by 5 min for Q&amp;A<\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td><span>Posters<\/span><\/td>\n<td><span>A0. Landscape or portrait<\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>Papers at the doctoral\u00a0student workshop<\/td>\n<td>Length of presentation: 15 min of talk by the doctoral student, followed by 10 minutes for discussion.<\/p>\n<p><span>The doctoral student workshop aims at fostering discussions of ongoing PhD research, as well as at obtaining feedback from senior researchers and other doctoral students. These workshops provide an opportunity for PhD students to present and discuss their work and explore future directions (25 minutes). Doctoral students whose abstracts are accepted are required to send their abstract, presentation, and a limited number of specific questions to the senior discussant ahead of the conference. The discussant will lead a\u00a0<\/span>10-minute feedback\/discussion session of the PhD work.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<hr \/>\n<h5><strong>Abstract Submission Information<\/strong><\/h5>\n<hr \/>\n<p>The submission of presentation proposals closes on<span>\u00a0<\/span><strong>06 December 2024.\u00a0<\/strong>We particularly encourage the submission of poster proposals given that the number of paper slots are limited. We believe that poster sessions are an excellent opportunity to discuss research with other delegates on a more informal basis.<\/p>\n<p>The proposals for all presentations will be evaluated by at least three members of the EuroSLA 34 Scientific Committee. Evaluation criteria include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\u00a0Quality of the content<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0Clarity of the content<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0Contribution to the field<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><span>Please note that you will have to create a SoftConf account to be able to submit your abstract.\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Notification of acceptance will be communicated by<span>\u00a0<\/span><strong>20 February 2025.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Length of Abstracts<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Individual papers, papers at the doctoral student workshop, or posters: max 500 words.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Language Policy<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The working language of the conference is English, but presentations are also welcome in other European languages.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h5><strong>Student Stipends<\/strong><\/h5>\n<hr \/>\n<p>As in previous years, several student stipends will be available for doctoral students. If you wish to apply, please send the following information to<span>\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"mailto:eurosla34@uit.no\">eurosla34@uit.no<\/a>\u00a0before 6 December 2024:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Name, institution and address of the institution<\/li>\n<li>Official confirmation of PhD student status<\/li>\n<li>Statement from supervisor or Head of department that the applicant\u2019s institution cannot (fully) cover the conference-related expenses.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Please note that applicants who have already received such stipend in the past are not eligible to re-apply.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h5><strong>Junior Researcher LAB Award<\/strong><\/h5>\n<hr \/>\n<p><span>The journal\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/benjamins.com\/catalog\/lab\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Linguistic Approaches to Bilingualism<\/a>\u00a0will be awarding the Junior Researcher LAB Award for the most promising PhD project selected for presentation at the doctoral workshop. The recipient of the Junior Researcher LAB award receives 300 Euros.
