The project consists of setting up language partners during break time, one day a week between a recently arrived student or one who does not normally use Catalan and a Catalan-speaking student so that they can speak in Catalan on the basis of certain subjects.
Knowledge and experiences are exchanged when the conversation partners come together. When faced with the asymmetry that unfortunately exists in the interaction of the majority in the social environment, the school space could be a privileged one for interculturality, to plan and organise relations between people from different cultural backgrounds. So when conversation partners are formed through our project, they are set up bearing in mind the use of the Catalan language, a communicative approach to the language, the language as a tool for interaction with others, a chance to swap experiences, so that the students who join later can share them with the autochthonous students.
Students over 18 can participate in the programme of Volunteers for the Language that the Local Catalan Service (SLC) of Esparreguera offers after school hours outside school. A networked project is thus consolidated.
