Escuela d’Aragonés Nogará

Nogará is an association set up in Zaragoza in 1991. It defends and teaches the Aragonese language given the fact that it is impossible to learn the language through public means and spaces so that it can be used in Zaragoza. Its main task is to give Aragonese classes increasingly geared toward adults of all ages.

The classes run by the Nogará School of Aragonese are fully face-to-face ones. The aim of the association is that anyone who wants to learn Aragonese should attend face-to-face classes, because our experience tells us that otherwise it is very difficult to be able to speak Aragonese. The association is further aiming to integrate Aragonese into society and create a true “Aragonese-speaking” community in Zaragoza.

However, there may be difficulties among the students owing to questions of work and place of residence (distant suburbs, villages with few inhabitants, etc.) but the activity adapts to different contexts in order to offer the service and not lose potential students participating in the integrating of Aragonese into society. For this purpose, Nogará has various teachers who, what is more, do not necessarily have to reside in Zaragoza because they teach online. We have set up a platform for this: http://www.nogara-religada.org/moodle/

The teachers have always worked on a voluntary basis except for 1 or 2 courses for which the organisation has a small grant for adult education from the regional Government of Aragon, thanks to which it has been possible to grant two teachers part-time release.
