Gústame o galego is a general language promotion campaign that draws attention to the support of individuals in the language normalisation process through photos with inspiring phrases about the use of the Galician language in different spheres and situations and which are spread via the social networks. A photo call with panels does the round of events and municipalities so that people can participate by having the corresponding photo taken of them with the chosen slogan. The photo is then posted on Facebook from where this person and others can share it, disseminate it, etc.
When various campaigns seeking to discredit the language normalisation process and establish old prejudices in the population emerged in Galicia, above all from 2009 onwards, it was considered necessary to encourage the linguistic normalisation process to show on a social level that there are many people who support it and who want to see a greater presence of Galician in all spheres and sectors: in the legal system, in the bars, in sports, in the new technologies, in commerce, in publicity and in education, etc.
What is more, it was considered necessary to make people see that there are many things that can be done with respect to the use and prestige of Galician and which also depend on each and every one of us and on each person individually and not so much on the Administration.
The campaign kicked off in 2012 and was run for a period of two years, the period in which it covered the whole country with nearly 100 photo call sessions involving about 7,000 people who participated directly with a photo; this generated more than 15,000 followers on Facebook, with some photos being shared by more than 1,000 people and seen by more than 85,000.
