Suns Europe 2015 Friuli

Suns Europe 2015 Friuli is the showcase for the best creative production of a multilingual Europe. The festival, which takes its name from the Friulian word Suns, "sounds", is divided into three sections, dedicated to the cinema, literature and theater, and music.

Friuli becomes the centre of a Europe that is “united in its diversity”, thanks to Suns Europe, the first European Festival of performing arts in minority languages.

In three week, we will be able to get in touch with the cultural vitality and expressive richness of audiovisual, literary and music productions made in the minority languages and nationalities of Europe, with authors, musicians, and film professionals from different areas of the continent, from the Basque Country to Karelia, from Corsica to Lapland, from Friuli to Galicia, from Occitania in Baskortostan, from Wales to Graugünden, from Brittany to Ladinia, from the Catalan areas to Greenland and Ireland.

In this way, Friuli opens its doors to Europe and, at the same time, it shows its multilingual and multicultural profile, finally free from discrimination and prejudice.

Precisely because of these specific characters, our land gets to know an is known, it creates and develops relations and captures and shares awareness on the value, the right and the opportunity represented by linguistic and cultural diversity and by the normal, creative, daily and free use of minority languages.

Thus, alongside the promotion of cultural diversity, linguistic rights, creativity an collaboration between our region and the rest of Europe, Suns Europe opens a new pathway for the development of tourism in its territory, starting from language and cultural peculiarities.
