MERCATOR Conference: Shaping Policy for Minority Languages and Multilingualism

The Mercator European Research Centre on Multilingualism and Language Learning, hosted by the Fryske Akademy, invites you to participate in the Mercator International Conference on the theme of Shaping Policy for Minority Languages and Multilingualism.
The aim of this conference is to provide a platform for and to stimulate critical discussions on policy development for minority languages and multilingualism in various contexts, from the home to education. We invite presentations that examine language policies, practices, ideologies, and attitudes at all levels (international, national, regional, societal, institutional, group, family, and individual). We welcome proposals for presentations from people of all career stages that engage with the themes of the conference. Postgraduate students and early career researchers are particularly encouraged to participate.
Registration
The conference fee is €100 for both days or €50 for 1 day, including lunches and drinks, and a conference dinner on 7 November.
- In-person attendance: register by 25 October 2024.
- Online attendance: register by 1 November 2024. If you register to attend online, livestreaming links will be shared shortly before the conference.
- Presenters must register to attend in person by 1 September 2024.
- Until 25 October, you can cancel your registration free of charge.
Key dates
Extended deadline: 30 May 2024: Submission deadline for abstracts (papers/ posters).
28 June 2024: Notification about acceptance of abstracts (oral presentations/poster presentations/symposia).
28 June 2024: Registration begins.
1 September 2024: Last registration day for presenters to attend in-person.
25 October 2024: Last registration day for in-person attendance. Until 25 October, you can cancel your registration free of charge.
1 November 2024: Last registration day for online attendance.
