The "Clube da Lingua" or Normalisation Team at the High School in Vila de Cruces is developing social participation projects for language normalisation within its "Palabras de Pedra" programme. "Palabras de Pedra" is a social participation project aiming to improve attitudes with respect to the Galician language and expand its uses through an interdisciplinary network: geography, history, art, sociolinguistics, anthropology, etc.
We are focussing on two projects in particular:
1. "Regueifesta": to drive forward oral improvisation (regueifa) in education in collaboration with the Maximino Romero High School in Baio. This process includes a project for cooperation and exchange with students in the Basque Country through the "Regueibertso" project that is linking the regueifas with ad-lib Basque verse-making (bertsolaritza).
2. "Tattoos da Galiza": this is a project to set up a social network to make the language visible in a hitherto unheard-of sphere: tattoos. During the 2014-2015 academic year a social participation process was set up. It culminated in the publication of the first book of tattoos engraved in Galician or on a Galician theme through a crowdfunding campaign. This academic year we are working on the second edition.
