Bai Euskarari Ziurtagiria

Bai Euskarari works with the aim of influencing the Basquisation of the socioeconomic sphere, identifying spaces allowing people to work and live in Basque, promoting them and extending them to other spaces, because it is crucial to give Basque access to all the spaces that have an impact on our everyday lives. It is hugely important.

The Bai Euskarari Ziurtagiria certificate is an effective tool that has an impact on the Basquisation of the socioeconomic sphere. The Bai Euskarari certificate identifies and recognises the work carried out by organisations across the Basque Country to develop different measures that encourage knowledge about and use of Basque. It thus certifies the language situation of an organisation and helps it to develop new measures with the future in mind. Any organisation wishing to obtain the Bai Euskarari certificate needs to analyse its language situation and, on the basis of the analysis, propose the aims it wants to work on all year round.

The body responsible for the certificates (Ziurtagiriaren Elkartea) makes an application available to these organisations to help them develop the aims they have set. The certificate needs to be renewed every year so the body responsible for the certificates carries out monitoring, evaluates and promotes each case; it also provides information about assistance: grants, professional handbooks, documents and models of forms in Basque, etc.

The Bai Euskarari certificate has three levels:

1. “Zerbitzua eta lana euskaraz”: service and work in Basque

2. “Zerbitzua euskaraz”: service in Basque

3. “Bidean”: ongoing.

The criteria and conditions for obtaining the “Zerbitzua euskaraz” and “Zerbitzua eta lana euskaraz” levels are summarised in four sections:

1. Language capacity of the people belonging to the organisation.

2. Corporate image and linguistic landscape.

3. External relations.

4. Internal relations.

About 150 items in all are analysed. Should an organisation fail to meet the requirements to move up to the second level, it will remain at the "Bidean" level.
