The machine translator is a tool that the Basque Government has made available to all citizens. The tool is a computing program that translates texts from Spanish to Basque, from Basque to Spanish and from English to Basque.
 
The machine translator allows citizens to translate short texts of a general type (up to a maximum of 1,500 characters) and web pages. The translator also offers the possibility of translating long documents, but this functionality will be offered via the Basque Government’s intranet.
 
Right now, the following language pairs are available: Spanish-Basque, Basque-Spanish and English-Basque. Basque-English will also be offered shortly. The Basque-French and French-Basque pairs will also be added to these language combinations in the near future.
 
As it is an open tool, anyone can use it and it is impossible to know the number of users. That is why the number of translations done is measured. In 2015 the following translations were done:
